Job Title: Education Operations Coordinator

Department: Education

Reports to: Manager of Education Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full-time

Job Purpose: The Education Operations Coordinator supports the Manager of Education Operations in providing efficient and professional customer service to all Education program participants and is responsible for coordinating all education program reservation details and logistics with customers as well collecting payment. This position coordinates Zoo Atlanta’s Sponsored Admissions program and Safari Camp Scholarship program. The Education Operations Coordinator must be able to thrive in a challenging fast-paced environment where prioritizing and multi-tasking are essentials.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processes all incoming school program requests and coordinates with registrants to schedule all school programs.
  • Coordinates Virtual School Program participation requirements for program registrants.
  • Coordinates Zoo Atlanta’s Sponsored Admissions Program & Safari Camp Scholarship Program.
  • Oversees an accurate balance due report with responsibility of all payments received on time and in full.
  • Coordinates scheduling of post program surveys for all education programs and events.
  • Works directly with Admissions to coordinate schools’ entrance into the zoo.
  • Communicates with program supervisors, other employees, and other individuals as needed to coordinate program details or resolve problems.
  • Coordinates all ZooMobile calendar reservations.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
  • Assist with database management when necessary and ensure quality data entry.
  • Generate reports as needed for program marketing, management, as well as other Zoo needs.
  • Performs all customer service and administrative duties for the Education Team: receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding programs, policies and/or personnel; attends meetings; assists customers; answers the telephone; prepares reports and correspondence; enters computer data, etc.
  • Assist with education events.
  • Must be willing to support Zoo Atlanta’s Vision, Mission and Values statement
  • Any other miscellaneous projects or assignments assigned by Zoo Atlanta’s Education management team.


  • Minimum of two years’ experience with quality data entry
  • Strong customer orientation and attention to detail.
  • Customer service attitude and skills: team player attitude, commitment, patience, enthusiasm, creativity, listening, comprehension, initiative, cooperation, attention to detail, resourcefulness.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects/priorities.
  • Strong customer orientation and attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and customer satisfaction skills are essential
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database programs
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn a windows-based reservations system (proficient use of DoubleKnot preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professionalism: sound judgment, ability to interact with all levels of staff and volunteers
  • Strong teamwork and customer satisfaction skills are essential
  • Flexible schedule as some evening, weekend and holiday work required
  • Excellent editorial skills for communication and detailed work
  • Professional dress, appearance, and conduct


  • Education Level Required: Minimum two years college completed

  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Viewing a computer screen and typing for extended periods
  • Coping with demands (stresses that are associated with the job and/or the work environment) so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
  • Extensive communication with guests on the telephone, via email, or in person
