Who you are: The Admissions Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operation of the entrance gate and rides ticketing. They play an important role in providing a safe, enjoyable, and efficient experience to Zoo Atlanta’s Members and guests by supervising Admissions Team Members and ensuring guest experience standards are met or exceeded.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily supervision of Admissions and Rides Cashiers, including scheduling, ensuring quality customer service to Members and guests, and opening & end of day processes
  • Responsible for ensuring daily implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols by Cashiers to make certain the highest standards of team member and visitor safety through team member training and implementation of safety protocols and procedures
  • Assists Admissions Director with reviewing and updating departmental training manual and job descriptions as needed
  • Leads interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of Admissions team members
  • Manages schedule and timekeeping of Admissions team to ensure sufficient coverage including working with the Rides Manager to ensure adequate coverage of Rides Ticketing and Treetop Trail Cashiers
  • Works with the Education and Security teams to oversee field trip check in
  • Conducts daily morning huddle meetings to ensure open, two-way communication with staff
  • Assists Admissions Director with performance evaluation of staff in accordance with Zoo Atlanta guidelines
  • Completes purchases and handles cash and credit card purchases securely and accurately
  • Provides data for daily accounting and attendance reports as needed
  • Assists Admissions Director with inventory management
  • Anticipates, troubleshoots, and resolves elevated Member and Guest concerns as needed applying appropriate guest recovery when applicable
  • Professionally responds to emails and phone calls directed to the Admissions team
  • Demonstrates leadership through example, fully supporting Zoo Atlanta’s strategic management plans and working with team members to support these plans
  • Actively fosters constructive attitudes and a team orientation among team members plus the ability to appropriately delegate responsibilities
  • Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and Zoo Atlanta events as needed
  • Maintain positive working relationships and communication within the Membership and Guest Services team as well as with all other Zoo Atlanta staff
  • Attend mandatory training
  • Must be willing to support Zoo Atlanta’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Any other miscellaneous projects/assignment assigned by Zoo Atlanta leadership

Experience and Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or hospitality preferred or equivalent experience
  • Must have 2 years of professional work experience and at least 1 year of experience in customer service
  • Demonstrates superior aptitude in customer service and quality control, including excellent telephone communication, person-to-person interaction and problem-solving skills; possesses a friendly, approachable demeanor and willingness to interact with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to details
  • Previous data entry experience required
  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strength in Word and Excel. Experience working with databases. Experience with Gateway ticketing system desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with Zoo guests
  • Focus on strong customer service
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Zoo Atlanta is open to the public 363 days out of the year; therefore, all positions at Zoo Atlanta may require employees to work some weekends, holidays, and evenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit, walk, bend, stoop, climb and stand for up to 8 hours at a time. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work will be indoors; must also have ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in and manage crowds

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • The typical hours for this position will be Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, hours could vary during peak seasons or special events (see below).
  • Zoo Atlanta is open to the public 363 days out of the year; therefore, all positions at Zoo Atlanta may require employees to work some weekends, holidays, and evenings.
